Nettle (Unscented)

Nettles must be one of our most underused natural resources. Nettles make excellent tea and a great spinach like green vegetable, they can be used as a natural dye, for animal fodder and for making fabrics. They also have a wide range of medicinal properties including the treatment of bronchial conditions and menstrual problems.

Nettles have particularly good properties for hair and an excellent hair conditioner may be made from nettle oil, washed out with nettle tea.

In soaps nettles work as a great skin conditioner and may help with psoriasis, acne and eczema. We have had it tested by friends with both acne and psoriasis and they have been very happy with the results.

This soap has been made with a mix of stinging nettles (Urtica dioica) and dead nettles (Lamium album), harvested in Central Scotland.

The oil has been infused with nettles  and nettle tea was used instead of water when mixing the lye solution.

The soap is unscented to keep it gentle on the skin.
