Dandelion (Unscented)

Dandelions are another great unused resource. With such a raft of benefits it can be really difficult to understand why this useful herb has come to be seen as a common weed.

As well as being edible and highly nutritious, dandelion has a long history as a medicinal herb. It has traditionally been used to treat a variety of conditions including: loss of appetite, stomach pains, wind, gallstones, joint pain and muscle aches. Dandelion is also known to be an effective diuretic (hence the “wet the bed” epithet) and a laxative.

Dandelion is also known to be effective as a skin toner and in the treatment of eczema, and this is why it is used as an ingredient in soaps and lotions.

This dandelion soap has been made with dandelions (Taraxacum) , harvested from our garden in Central Scotland. The dandelions were infused for several months in olive oil which was then made into soap.

Turmeric has been added to give the soap some colour.

The soap is unscented to keep it more gentle on the skin.
